Featured Creation by Tertia

Sorry, I haven't had a new feature in a while - since the 9th to be precise - because I was frantically working away on some commissions that needed to be finished.  Besides the work obligations, holiday season usually means extra gatherings and activities at school and work for a lot of us, the social calendar gets filled up.

I'm happy to be writing up another crafter showcase today though.  ^_^  I have a beautiful submission from Tertia Jacobs with my popular "Peacock Masquerade" image.

I love the rich royal blue against her golden skin and blond hair.  It really livens up the image.  The pearls of different size really bring add to the 3D feel.  I love the lustre of pearls that adds soft highlights and low lights, adding visual details in a subtle way.  Tertia kept the card design simple with light green and white stripes for the background, which is perfect for the refreshing yet high-energy feel of the coloring she has done to the image.

"Peacock Masquerade" digi is available at AW Etsy Shop right here.  It is a 1500 x 2100 pixels, 300 dpi, JPG file.  This image was originally painted as an ACEO (2.5" x 3.5", the same size as a baseball card).  I received a request from a fan to make it available as a digi, and since its release, it has been very popular.  I guess there are a lot of people who love masks as much as I do. :D

Be sure to keep checking the AuroraWings facebook group now through Christmas as we continue to play lots of games.  And games mean chances to win free digis!

Designer Spotlight - Charlene

Hi, everyone!  Thank you for stopping by today.  ^_^  It's already the second week of December.  Time flies when you're having fun, doesn't it?  Today, I'm feeling Christmasy again, and this lovely creation by one of the AuroraWings Challenge Blog's DT member, Charlene Short, caught my attention while I was looking at the submissions album. (Yes, in case you didn't know, there is a submission album at the FB group where you can add your cards to be showcased on this blog.  When your piece is featured, you get a blog badge and a free digi of your choice - up to $4 value.  So be sure to add the best of your creations to the album today!  Holiday themed pieces will most likely get a lot of attention for the month of December. *hint hint*)

Here's the lovely Christmas card by Charlene with "Mistletoe Fairy" digi.  I love this sassy little fairy all dressed up and ready for a party with a hair of mistletoe.  Just love the way Charlene colored her, giving her natural mistletoe colors with red ribbons and pearls for the berries.  I also love the forest green and gold color scheme throughout on papers in traditional holiday motifs.

You can find the "Mistletoe Fairy" digi at the AW Etsy shop and AW web shop.  This image is available as a 300 dpi JPG digi at 1500 x 2100 pixels (5" x 7"/ 12.7 x 17.8 cm).

Just want to mention the current offers going on at AuroraWings before I wrap up this post.  ^_^

Featured Creation by Denise

Hi, everyone!  I'm doing a second crafter showcase of the month already. :D  See if I can keep this up. *fingers crossed*  Today, we have a beautiful work by Denise Goeldner with "Circe" digi.  I don't see this one on cards very often and I think I know the reason why.  I think it's the lion's fur that's intimidating to some.  Hehe.  Personally, I've always loved Circe's slightly annoyed look with one raised eyebrow.

I love the watercolor feel she created on the image.  It's soft, but still packs a visual punch  because of the orange and purple combo.  The paper in shades of lilac continues the watercolor-like look and adds a nice feminine feel as does the lace border all the way around.  Simply gorgeous!!  You can read more about this card in her blog post right here.

"Circe" is available as a larger square digi of 7" x 7" (17.8 cm square), 2100 x 2100 pixels at 300 dpi in JPG.  Listing is located right here on AW Etsy shop.  The full version (the original line art) is available exclusively in the new coloring book of darker fantasy images titled "Midnight Gardens".

Since we are on a theme of large cat (lion) here, I'm going to stretch and mention a very special deal involving a little kitty.

"Christmas Light Kitty" digi is 2100 x 1500 pixels (7" x 5"/17.8 c 12.7 cm) at 300 dpi in JPG format.  Yours FREE with a minimum of $10 purchase during the special campaign period (through December 15, 2014 at 11:59 pm ET US.).  This kitty is inspired by one of the bad kitties at out house, who seem to think we can never stay mad at them for very long because they're simply too adorable no matter what kind of mess they leave for me to clean.  ^^;

Featured Creation by Manderly

Hi, everyone!  I can't believe it's already December, and Christmas is just around the corner. It's a fun time of the year with parties and special events of all kinds.  It can also be hectic and busy, but I'm going to try to keep up with regular installments of crafter features as much as I can. :D

Today, we have one of my favorites from Manderly Lynn with "Poppy Elf".  This beautiful card was a Top 3 winner in September's contest at the AuroraWings Facebook Group.  I'm going to take a quick moment to thank you all for keeping the fb group so active and lively with new posts every day.  I love checking everyone's posts and all the interaction there.  ^_^  It's amazing that we are getting near the 2,000 members mark... :D

I love the coloring and the color choice on the main image.  Red poppies in full range within the hue from orange highlights to the deepest of crimson, purple in her hair, and green in the background.  It's stunning by itself, but the framing with the die-cuts in black and gold adds to the magic, continuing the enchantment.  The bird is placed perfectly to be the object of the Poppy Elf's gaze.  How cute is that?  And last, but not least, I LOVE the lighting on this project for the photographing.  The spotlight (the mood is almost like that of an art gallery here.) highlights the image and adds another layer of magic to the overall presentation.  I LOVE the attention and care that went into capturing this beautiful card.  You can see more pics and read about this project on her blog right here.

If you'd also like to have a play with "Poppy Elf", she's available at AW Etsy shop here and at AW web shop here.  She comes in JPG format at 1500 x 2100 pixels (at 300 dpi), 5" x7"/12.7x 17.8 cm.

There's a special Cyber Week deal going on right now.  Don't miss your chance to save 25% now through Dec. 7, 2014.  As always, the discount code is only valid on all-digi purchases. ( If you want to buy physical items like prints and coloring books, they'll have to be purchased in a separate transaction.  Thank you for your understanding.)
